Jiu-Jitsu is a Japanese martial art which originated as the unarmed combat art of the Samurai Warrior class. It incorporates kicks, strikes, throws, ground techniques, pressure points, chokes, locks, weapons and defenses against weapons. Jiu-Jitsu is a combat marital art, and as such is focused on practical self defense skills.
Most Jiu-Jitsu techniques consist of blocking the opponents attack, counter-attacking and throwing the opponent, then applying a technique to incapacitate or control the opponent to prevent further attack. Self confidence, self development and respect along with practicality of technique are stressed in this class. Students of all ages are welcome.
The Jiu-Jitsu program at Brad Jones Karate Do is affiliated with the World Kobudo Federation. Each student is issued a federation passport book. Seminars and other events are available to members of the federation at a reduced cost.
